Software law

A term used to describe intellectual property law issues related to the realm of software. Software law regulates the restriction of software rights by patent or copyright protection. Copyright in software is designed to prevent software piracy, i.e. the unauthorized duplication of software. Patents can be used to protect the functional or design aspects of the software and thus provide a broader scope of protection than copyrights.

Screen Actors Guild

An American labor union which represents over 12,000 film and television performers worldwide. The Guild was founded in 1933 in an effort to eliminate exploitation of actors who were being forced into oppressive multi-year contracts with the major movie studios.
